@EvgenyGaevoy It seems to me that even Wintermute should be happy about increasing transparency on these topics so that when everyone says it was Wintermute's fault, it is easier to point to some data that reveals otherwise. @EvgenyGaevoy A good talk on this you might be interested in listening to: https://t.co/yjrrXZBxiE

One area of crypto mkt structure that seems very opaque and weird to me still is market maker <> token issuer / foundation relationships. I would guess this is responsible for a lot more issues than it gets credit for. Feels like in the last year there have been several "our market maker fucked us" stories that just disappear and nobody ever knows what actually happened. About a month ago, some token crashed like 90% and then the founder wrote some long thread saying "wintermute did it to us" and then nothing happened. Am surprised there is no solution for this yet: maybe founders should have to publish/disclose the terms of their MM deals…

Most influencers seem to invest in the most dogtier stuff bc (1) their visibility pipeline is stuff that outbounds to them (adverse selection) or (2) they’re more comfortable backing their “friends” (adverse selection) and maybe (3) they don’t have the technical, market or product expertise to evaluate what’s good and bad. Even if you ignore that, crypto ppls inability to understand pareto returns is quite weird. If you bet 10 times, lose 9 times, and win once, but your win a >10x, then you are a profitable investor. TG seems to have 14% historical hit rate, with the win being on the low side of a win. 10 bets of $1000, if hit rate remains …

@firebombpk Yeah that guy, he’s in a “portal” all by himself which says DANGER. Basically one misstep and you’re dead but possible to perfectly parry everything cos has like 3 moves to learn

Yes, ppl should watch the episode. Back in 2013, Cryptsy was the big exchange, like Binance is today. It would have decent market impact when assets were listed. I basically figured out that the Cryptsy API would update a week or two before they would announce new markets, and so if you constantly pinged an increment of the asset list on the deposit api, you’d get the name of the next coin, AND you could generate yourself a deposit address on the exchange. (Deposits took a long time to be credited back in 2013 so it was important to be deposited early). I could buy the asset for a week or two prior to the market being announced, and then wh…

@firebombpk Yeah but you’re supposed to just come back to it later. The fight takes over an hour and if you make a single mistake it’s over. Beating it gives you like 15 levels worth of xp.
