Software Factory - Version 0.29.0 Release date: March 16th, 2026 Major Features • Planner Module v2: Planner delivers the core 80% of project management functionality without the complexity of traditional tools. While platforms like Jira offer hundreds of customization options to cover the remaining 20%, Software Factory prioritizes simplicity—making it easier for agents to operate effectively while still covering essential workflows. Users can now track work orders in roadmap (Gantt) and board (Kanban) views, establish parent-child relationships, map dependency chains, view and restore previous versions of work orders, link pull requests, and many more powerful capabilities. Phase date ranges can now be configured in the project settings to align with your release schedule. • Global Search: Cross-module search dialog with Cmd+K shortcut, module filter chips, keyboard navigation, result prioritization, and recent activity. • New MCP Tool: Users can now create work orders via MCP with their coding agent of choice. • Improved Code Search: Software Factory agents have improved code search capabilities with improved auditability of the code search operations performed. Minor Updates • Draft Comments: Pending comment text is cached when the user navigates away before finalizing the comment. • Agent Module Switch Warning: Users are warned before stopping active agent runs when switching modules. • Agent Engine Resilience: Fixes for mid-stream error handling with retry and resumption, cancel/retry stalls, premature tool call validation, content block filtering, and tool call ID normalization. • Raw Paste Shortcut: Cmd/Ctrl + V renders pasted markdown in editors, Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+V pastes plain text without formatting in editors. • Quickstart Polish: Toggleable checklist items, auto-refetch on codebase indexing, and improved completion logic.
