A preventative MRI, something my friends and I do every 2-3 years, absolutely exists and has tremendous value. It is the best form of schmuck insurance: 99.9% of the time it finds nothing, 0.1% of the time it saves your life.
The cost of a full body MRI is $2-3k right now but it has fallen from $5k a few years ago. This procedure will soon be under $1k or less than $1/day when accounting for the periodicity making it affordable for many - especially through an HSA or employer sponsor.
