Happy to hop back on Macro Voices with @ErikSTownsend. We discuss topics ranging from the Fed to the re-usability of rockets. https://t.co/T7umKdxbpr I'm a fan of their title policy, btw. They ask the guest what the title might be. Making an objective, chill title for the talk probably hurts their views vs more sensationalist, misleading versions. So this is the one I'll amplify. 👍 For context: https://t.co/IlUXoJrumH

@RnaudBertrand Amazon is known for fake products, and this one isn’t doing itself any favors at looking genuine. And it’s volume five. Are people going to be like, “you know what, I want to read the fifth volume of these essays”? If they’re not already a major fan of his indirectly-collected content? Combined with lack of marketing and distribution, it’s just lost in the algo. Unclear to many people id it’s even canon rather than some small independent book attempt. Nothing shocking about it, really.

https://t.co/HzxbrXcBLz (Like really though. They have the fancy dust jacket genuine cloth cover version, and give the best discounts for wholesale.) When I gave a talk about my book at Princeton and they needed copies, it was Saif House they ordered from.

@BoringBiz_ That second item is good for you, but more importantly is good for the whole group. Be known as the problem solver. The leader, or just the grease, that gets things done above all else.

@BitcoinBendeer @WalkerAmerica @elonmusk Morgan Freeman is awesome, but he always sounds like Morgan Freeman. Carla voice-acts a terrorist, a sociopath, a special agent, the kindest person in the world, a young boy, and an eccentric ‘lady of the night’, and they all sound like different voice actors.

It's funny. I don't think pay-per-engagement is good for incentives (it encourages sensationalism), which is why I haven't turned it on after all this time despite now having ~1 million followers. But I agree with Devon that if it exists, it should be transparent+itemized. 🧵 My main concern with that level of detail is it gives more transparency to those who'd try to play the system. I suspect that's why @nikitabier doesn't do it. And that feeds back into why I dislike pay-per-engagement. If you can't make it transparent, there's likely a reason. Introducing tips would be a potential approach. Folks on the small decentralized social m…

@BitPaine @CanadianSatoshi @Strategy Credit to @BitPaine for reposting this. I wrote it deep in a thread, I saw it get little traction, but eventually he tweeted it. Then people saw it. But I knew he would. That’s why I bothered. One might agree or disagree with him, but he acknowledges points as they occur. 🫡

XThread part

@BitPaine @CanadianSatoshi @Strategy People ask why MSTR should have a premium. Maintaining a USD reserve, and a number of highly liquid capital market tools (common stock, BTC holdings, preferreds, debt) and being willing to do counter-cyclical things with those tools, is the good-optics answer to that question.

BTW this ended up being true. Initial Iranian AI rap battles were really strong memes, but they peaked in April and nobody talked about them much in May or June even as they kept pumping new ones out for a while. I know a thing or two about memes, which is why I was willing to call the trend as visibly topping. Damage done, though. The effects from that early strike still linger.

XThread part

@BitPaine And as you've pointed out, STRC has sold off more than SATA (as of yesterday, today, etc), despite SATA being more levered. Thus, something there feels quite mechanical (ie someone messed up their tail risk analysis) more so than collective human judgement about it.

The new Fed chairman’s first press conference was rather hawkish. He came off as articulate and prepared, but tightly-phrased on most things (ie not giving a whole lot away) which is a style he previously foreshadowed. Bit of a hit to rate-sensitive assets, which makes sense. https://t.co/OKu6r4f77r

What if we just see the document? It’s a short diplomatic agreement that has been signed. It’s weird that it’s not available.

Depends how much you love your employer and coworkers. When I retired from my engineering management job years ago, I gave two *months* notice, not two weeks. We were a team, and I was in a rather key role. So, I made sure that things were in order and my replacement was ready. People should try to find employers that they respect and who respect them back. If employers treat workers as replaceable, they build no loyalty. In contrast, if employers think a bit longer term and build a true team, they tend to gather a lot of employee credit and win.

@BitPaine "STRC investors like big reserves and they cannot lie. You other brothers can't deny. When a company walks in with itty bitty risk and massive yields in your face, you get sprung." (is what I've heard)

Some of my favorite accounts on this app were briefly antagonistic with me but we're cool now. Social media reduces people's social filters, so they say things they wouldn't say in real life. Thus, it's good to reach out as a person and give them another chance to be cool. 👍

Call me crazy, but I think parents should determine what their teenagers do online rather than the government. And that governments shouldn't use system-level ID checks to identify and monitor everything. It's almost as if governments are more worried about what people of all ages might say, rather than what teenagers might experience.

The best aspect of Fullmetal Alchemist imo was the idea of sacrifice. Equal exchange. Ethical conflicts. It wasn’t a power fantasy. Aside from the YA action fun aspects, it was a rather deep examination of genuinely hard tradeoffs that well-written characters had to make. And Maes Hughes. 🫡

If you denominate US GDP in gold instead of dollars, the chart is wild. https://t.co/Fi4uEsc8p5

My issue with #Bugonia (spoiler warning, stop here) is that it wasn't like you could guess the twist or not. Couldn't see it ahead of time, nor did it fully make sense afterward. Enjoyed watching it, quite a bit darker than I expected, but ultimately not something I'd rewatch.

Greece and Turkey do share the South Mediterranean with Egypt. But Egypt has the deeper South Mediterranean and also the Red Sea. Two epic coasts. Let’s hope Egypt can keep them that way. 🤞🫡

@WalterS72474549 @jameslavish Being specific helps to show reputation. I was critical of Tesla’s slow growth and more-so X’s censorship of Indian and Turkish content, as he ramped up censorship. But rarely on SpaceX. I still don’t view Musk as an ethical person. But it doesn’t matter right now.

XThread part

@gloconic @jameslavish And I wasn’t wrong. Musk cucked himself to his foreign benefactors at that time. I was among his biggest critics. But I don’t dabble in feuds. I’m on the record years ago that SpaceX, aside from other stuff, is still good. It’s overvalued now, imo. But good.

XThread part

@jameslavish And so, most fundamental investors just have to watch it. It’s overvalued, sure, but how do you short it? Just have to watch it play out. It’s about optimism of human space. Can’t short that. More Starlink satellites is great. Orbital AI databases are likely to lose money.
