The significance of this is impossible to overstate. At its peak, the “Red Corridor” was 3% of India’s landmass and affected close to 10% of India’s population. Between 2004 and 2010 alone, it claimed over 10,000 lives, an overwhelming majority of it, innocent civilians. This was a State within the State, an ISIS village if you will. Beheadings, strangulations, rapes, all part of the fare. All after summary trials at kangaroo courts, if any at all. The biggest myth their wildly successful PR perpetuated was that they only targeted the administration. In reality, they didn’t hesitate hitting schools, hospitals, trains, entire villages. Seen Blood Diamond? Naxal demons recruited kids as young as 12 as child soldiers. These kids were informants, fighters, cannon fodders. Embarrassingly, this blemish had increasingly become a part of the Indian reality successive governments failed to erase even with the full might of the State at their disposal. States like Chhattishgarh had grown to acquire one overarching identity they had zero hopes of getting rid of. Like him or not, Amit Shah has accomplished the hopelessly impossible.

BIG BREAKING: Maoists announce ceasefire and giving up arms. Statement issued from CPI Maoists Spokesperson Abhay. Home Minister Amit Shah had earlier announced March 2026 as deadline for security forces to completely end Maoists from Indian soil. Big win for security forces.

The Indian state keeps getting better at winning. Note: Ignore the boundary distortions in Wiki’s India maps, and focus on the wipeout of Naxal terror - a project now almost fully complete. https://t.co/1Rhi1c5x7i

Till as recently as 2010, some 160 districts were impacted by these Naxalites who ran extortion rackets and parallel governments. West Bengal has never recovered from the mayhem they created in the 1960s and early 1970s. Hopefully, the organised violence will now end but their "intellectual" cousins will continue to poison young minds in new ways unless they are constantly exposed. There will always be foreign "NGOs" and "think-tanks" willing to finance useful idiots.

Today, the Republic of India has shattered the Hammer & the Sickle. Nearly a decade back, a red, festering wound streaked across nearly 1/3 of India, terrorizing the men of those lands. Now, it has been wiped clean by the might of the Republic under a shining saffron sun. https://t.co/hcaWiX59my

In 2010 they controlled almost 1/3rd of India This surrender marks the 2nd big insurgency this government has defeated after Kashmir, all in the space of 10 years. Of course sporadic attacks will continue as with the tail end of all insurgencies, but the insurgency is over.
