Real connection lives in inconvenience. A few months ago I sat down with @PeterDiamandis and @salimismail on The Journeyman and we got into this. Salim made a brilliant point... in the nineties we introduced video calls so nobody would ever have to travel again. Yet the conference industry has never been bigger. We still get on the plane, sit in traffic and stand around hotel lobbies. Why? because community is worth the inconvenience. Putting yourself out for other people is exactly what makes it mean something. We've spent decades optimising for a hyper-convenient life. And the machines will finish the job... they'll be able to do everything convenient. The one thing they can't do is show up. Be in the room. Be there. That's why Im not worried about whats coming. The things that make us human are about to become the most valuable things we have. Everyone's focused on what the robots take. Hardly anyone is thinking about what they hand back. I wrote the whole thing up yesterday: https://t.co/Jet1givZwt

Quoted context

These are the quoted author’s words.

I don't write about robots because I find them interesting, although they most definitely are. I write about them because they solve one of the biggest problems in our economy. All my thoughts below. https://t.co/B2AR7iMGZS
