Kaczynski is the Marx of the 21st century. Because anti-technology will be the new anti-capitalism. When printed out into the real world, Marx’s philosophy led to the organized murder of the gulag. It was centralized, authoritarian. When printed out into the real world, Kaczynski’s philosophy led to the disorganized murder of the Unabomber. It was decentralized, anarchic. And just like Marx’s anti-capitalism made the lives of ordinary workers far worse, in the name of targeting top-hatted capitalists, Kaczynski’s anti-technology will make the lives of ordinary users far worse, in the name of targeting hoodie-wearing technologists. Yeah. This is why anti-tech will unfortunately have wide appeal…it has certain premises that may seem to make sense, but which are often taken to insane conclusions (like the Unabomber). “Leftists are oversocialized…therefore I must live in the jungle like an animal” Really, the fundamental error that Kacynszki made is thinking of technological progress as being “unnatural” rather than the essence of being human. The main thing that distinguishes man from animal is technology. We evolved over millennia to use spears rather than fangs, and to wear clothes rather than fur, and to use fire rather than digestive enzymes. Technological progress accompanied greater levels of encephalization. Kaczynski’s remedy for someone feeling cooped up in a cubicle was to make them live like an animal, which is like Marx fixing a worker’s labor conditions by sending them to the gulag. Recall also: Marx appealed to the feeling that capitalism was disrupting farms, artisans, and the working man. “All that is solid melts into air.” He was against disruption, of the creative variety at least. He only wanted murderous revolution followed by economic stasis, which he got. Because in practice communism is ultra-conservative, in the sense that it freezes the current technological time period in place. For example, Cuba is still using cars from the 1950s.

@balajis Sort of - Kaczynski was not just against “technology” but also the psychology and ideology of modern anti-capitalist leftism itself
