Ohio takes the CAKE baby at 21!!! 21 out of 35!
✅ BofA counts 35 local data center measures on November 3. None are statewide. 21 in Ohio, 7 in Illinois, 3 in Kansas.
✅ About half would ban facilities or cap them, often at 25 MW. Several Illinois questions and six in Ohio point the OTHER way: let them build.
✅ Pause or moratorium proposals also show up in 20 of the 36 governor races.
➡️ BofA's read: sequencing, not opposition. The money moves states. It does not stop.
➡️ Towns want the tax base and hate the power bill. Both are true. That's why it's on a ballot and not in a law.
😇 We have officially hit bottom in the data center stocks
➡️ A town that says no does not cancel a gigawatt. It moves it to Wyoming, Iowa or Tennessee.
🚨 The risk: Texas. It halted all data center permits in September and holds a 474 GW queue, five times its grid's record. Pause becoming policy there is not sequencing. That is a wall.
➡️ Bottom line: watch Ohio on election night. It tells you what the backlash is worth.
😇 I've personally said this on the channel for over a year: data centers just find a new home. They will end up somewhere. Wouldn't be surprised if we're seeing multi-permitting, expecting cancels / fails!
