AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile each fell 5% or more after hours. They should be nervous.
✅ SpaceX agreed to buy a nationwide block of 800 MHz spectrum, up to 14 MHz. It still needs FCC approval.
✅ 800 MHz is low band. Longer radio waves. They get through walls and windows and down into basements.
➡️ The knock on satellite phone service: great in a field, useless in your kitchen. Not anymore.
😇 The legacy mobile companies are shaking in their freaking boots, baby.
➡️ Three carriers control your phone bill. The gap between what service costs them and what you pay is the opening.
😇 Elon sees this as a wedge. This is the brilliance of Elon.
😇 I would love Elon to take over my phone service.
✅ SpaceX says most phones already support this band.
➡️ On the stock: I think the floor is around $132. It closed Thursday at $160.57.
🚨 The risk: no price was disclosed, the FCC has to sign off, and SpaceX is already looking to borrow $40 billion. His ideas are not wrong. His timing is just warped.
