Last week, I had the opportunity to meet Caroline Shinkle @TheRealCShinkle who is running for Congress to represent the NY 12 district which includes the East and West sides from 14th to 100th Street. Her background includes economics at MIT, Harvard Law School, Federal Reserve, and Cravath, and she is, as you might expect, extremely impressive and compelling. We need more candidates like Caroline and she needs our support to win. She is running as a Republican for Jerry Nadler’s former seat and has been largely ignored by her Democrat competitor who has refused to debate her because of the assumption that only a Democrat can win in NYC. Many of us (and I also deserve the blame) don’t take these elections seriously because we believe them to be preordained, but this indifference allows a small number of New Yorkers to control the outcome of our elections with disastrous consequences. NY 12 is a very balanced district with a high percentage of moderate voters. We just need to show up and vote. I am going to interview Caroline on @X tomorrow in a Spaces at 5:15pm with an an open Q&A to follow. Leadership matters. It takes a very small percentage of voters for Caroline to win. Let’s hear what she has to say. For details on her policy positions and actionable solutions to make NYC affordable see: https://t.co/HosckKerXO
