Quoted context

These are the quoted author’s words.

One of the things Covid taught me, is that there's not really any difference between propaganda and policy. People in charge may begin with the intention of telling simplistic fables to manufacture consent and encourage compliance, but before long – via the inexorable necessity of coordination through simplification – those fables become the only discernible purpose & motive of the propagandised measures. The same phenomenon afflicts political messaging more generally. Simplistic calls to action, fundraising appeals, activist slogans originally engineered to grab attention and appeal to the least common denominator before long become the entire message, the whole ideological programme.
