“you can’t do critical research without the compute scale of the top frontier labs” Nick: hold my beer
OpenAI took 25% of its production engineers off every project and told them: you are just securing now. Their top model hunted in their infrastructure until it saturated (stopped finding new issues). Will everyone else follow? New physics of cybersecurity @gdb / @NoPriorsPod https://t.co/keFxPHcXsT

man, everything is alignment problem… AI models business models teams service providers *product, too
Why join Ithaca: @GuptaRK22 & @johnwhegeman are taking Bumble private, and we led the round behind it. It’s our largest single round investment by a lot. John is the only CRO of a company with $200B in annual revenue I've met who is an engineer's engineer. He ran engineering across News Feed and Monetization before becoming Meta's CRO. I tried to recruit Ravi years ago and he had the best references I've ever gotten on a leader. My partner @mvernal introduced them to each other. He'd worked with both. We are full conviction in these people, to the point where we rethought our own business model in order to be able to back them, and it wasn’…
Update I finally did it. I’m earning interest and my mom is proud
Congratulations to MSFT! A rich ecosystem of silicon innovation is critical to broad benefit from intelligence

How much time we now spend peering into a machine’s thought process "It is impossible to say just what I mean! / But as if a magic lantern threw the nerves in patterns on a screen"
@JayaGup10 Of course if the next company wants to sell $20M of inference at negative gross margin, with no path to scale supply, be my guest. 🙇♀️
lots of discussion of capital gathering and allocation in the ai era but capital allocation was always one of the most important executive skills, the stakes have just scaled up. it’s that and hiring talented drivers, building cultures that can execute
the simplest fucking thing in the world is to act fairly rather than take advantage of the people who aren’t a pain in your ass, and are unequivocally on your side
ICYMI, new @NoPriorsPod with @reflection_ai cofounder @MishaLaskin on China, safety, market structure of ai, the business model of open models, reasoning efficiency, distillation, and what it takes to ship massive frontier AI “Competitive tension is just good.” https://t.co/K6w56NW6OT wherever you get your pods, or YouTube https://t.co/rW3dH7WxyK
the next set of startups that will grow rapidly, with margin despite not being “tech companies” are cyber incident response companies

questions for @gdb on No Priors?
a full day of researchers arguing about inference and the future is my idea of a good time All-Gather, Nov 18 in SF!
flashscaling = decade of growth in a year there is a small handful of companies (including the labs) scaling like no company ever before, and 1) the GTM folks and 2) finance/compute folks at those companies will have uniquely in-demand experience in the next era there’s obviously never been a more interesting time to build product… but there has also never been a more interesting time to lead sales or finance! what sales hiring, training, comp cycles are compressible? what business models align with customers? how to preserve margin/manage supply risk? if intelligence makes products ~universally better, how much can we spend on compute? wh…
given enough compute, all bugs are shallow?
one does not bet against recursive self improvement
how will businesses talk to their customer’s personal agents? relentless innovation from team @SierraPlatform: the Personal Agent Protocol
Finally, le chonk! 🐱 Counting this team out was a mistake - let the open model teams cook
no, actually you can treat seed investments you lead as full bets, and work on them with committed belief for years founders do that, every time structure determines strategy
congratulations team @reflection_ai ☀️ future is bright with western open frontier models ☀️
the choice of whether to resist the future or rapidly adapt. some strategic wisdom from our partner @mvernal
Really fun @NoPriorsPod with @goodwin_ml founder of @fractile_ai topics: - how to win the ai chip market, structurally - ai for chip design, what’s compressible - the need to be a frontier lab to serve frontier labs - solving memory bandwidth - new hardware scaling laws https://t.co/LcZGB33XPm full interview on YouTube or anywhere you get your podcasts https://t.co/mwJ1ZQenf1
