If there is a pictorial dictionary AI should default all “deer in the headlights” inquiries to the Smiley guy in today’s Brown University seemingly cover up press conference. Not a happy man.

XPost

The Brown University “investigation” appears to have rapidly evolved into a cover up.

XPost

Looks like Brown University has joined the “Poison Ivies” club. Murders on campus, pathetic “investigation”, only identifiable response: cancelling exams (which probably means everyone gets an “A”, however redundant with pre-murders existing norms).

Well, it took many wasted hours of my time and likely a large fee from my tax people to help IRS figure out that “Yes”, I did pay my 2024 Federal Income taxes in full and on time and so “No” there is no penalty due. While fraud by illegals and crooks barrels along. Repeal The Sixteenth Amendment!!!!

XPost

Here’s an idea: Repeal the 16th amendment. No more Federal Income tax. Taxes only at the state level. Initially keep aggregate tax revenue the same, but let the states decide what to fund internally and what to allocate to the Federal Government.

Went to great lengths to pay my 2024 Federal Income taxes before the 10/15/2025 deadline (for us people devastated by the Palisades fire). Made every effort possible to pay in full and on time. The IRS office in Fresno did not take delivery of my tax payment in full and on time. They have sent me a penalty bill.

USA home affordability is at an all time low comparing median home prices/carry costs to median income. The % of median cost of home ownership to median household income is at 2006 levels. But now there are no crazy loans, so it is really much worse.

Bloomberg: “Renovo’s main borrowing entity…filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last week, listing liabilities of between $100 million and $500 million and assets of under $50,000.” And a major firm in Private Credit land had its position marked at 100 just a few weeks ago!?! Yup

XPost

In Private Credit land, loans marked at 100 one day can be “revalued” at ZERO a few weeks later after the borrower declares bankruptcy. Case in point: Renovo Home Partners. Remember: there is never just one cockroach.

After high hopes entering this season (Josh Allen is our quarterback, after all) Bills mafia got gut punched today. Because Josh is not being supported. I doubt bringing back Gabe Davis will make a difference.

XPost

Another day, another negative development in Private Credit land. Bloomberg article about PIK (“Pay In Kind”) proliferation masking the stress and likely coming pain/defaults.

There it is! Per the Debt Clock, US National Debt just crossed above $38 Trillion. $40 Trillion here we come.

I have received communications related to art dealing from a person who calls themself Natasha Dobson that are highly suspicious.

Red bars are official recessions. Remember when 2% long term average inflation was the goal? Need deflation next few years to get there. Don”t count on it, https://t.co/DXcZIPvBl4

Will not be on CNBC post Powell presser tomorrow (scheduling conflict) but will be on with Scott Wapner Monday August 4 in the 3 pm EDT hour to cover the market reactions to the Fed meeting AND the July employment report.

The U.S. Debt Clock is at $36.999 Trillion and spinning like a Tokyo taxi meter. $37 Trillion for real is just hours away. *Yippee*!

Somehow I doubt the developments of the past week will increase private investment in Los Angeles.

Reporting from ground zero. Karen Bass: A few hours ago : the protests are peaceful. Now: we are implementing a curfew.

The situation currently underway in Paramount California sort of looks like civil war.

A rise in the 30 Year US Treasury yield to above 5.18% would take it to a new eighteen year high.

XPost

Treasury yields have been rising on a trend basis while the dollar has been falling on a trend basis. This paradigm’s likely emergence, and the reasons behind it, have been described many times in my 5webcasts and media appearances.

XPost

Halfway through fiscal year 2025, the U.S. Budget deficit increased by $1.3 trillion. So we are up to a $2.6 trillion annual rate. That rounds up to an incredible 9% of GDP. The fit is hitting the shan.

When public markets experience a sharp decline, like now, it is nonsensical to think private markets are a harbor in the storm. Yet I have heard this absurd assertion twice in the past week. “Don’t worry, we’re not down”. Sure.

XPost

The 2 year UST yield now sits at exactly 3.5%, suggesting the Fed Funds rate is at least for now viewed to be 75 basis points too high. Yet I do not see a single cut any time soon, unless the losses in risk assets greatly increase.

XPost

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ are now, with the present futures market openings, negative in price change year-over-year.

XPost

No, US bond market credit spreads are not “well contained.” Since year end, the extra interest Junk Bond companies need to pay to borrow vs the US Treasury have increased by 140 basis points. I predicted this in an interview with Scott Wapner the day after the last Fed meeting.

It is not an option, it is essential: Without reducing spending the United States will go bankrupt. Cut, baby, cut!
