@MichaelAArouet Job losses are rough, but from a taxpayer perspective I certainly support reducing the number of foreign U.S. bases. https://t.co/PWoxD0NMo1

Azula was one of several inspirations that went into Fallon’s character concept in Stolguard. (iykyk) https://t.co/90lW3MMW0h https://t.co/x5iIOpljbv

In which we debate money, commerce, governance, and more:
@Mouse_1301 I’ve been called both leftist and maga today, which is fascinating. Anyway, the post-merger company wouldn’t have been the biggest airline. Spirit is now eliminated without the merger, so… great job I guess.
I live near a tiny, oddly convenient airport that only had Spirit flights. With Spirit winding down today, those routes are gone. Have to always go to the larger, farther airports now. Rough day for all the workers at that airport, too. https://t.co/RJwN1KwSk0
@KlendathuCap Yep.

Interesting chart, although there is some hard-to-quantify nuance regarding how dovish/hawkish each individual member truly is.
Multiple things are simultaneously true: 1) Foreign public sector (central banks) are not buying US treasuries for over a decade, led by China. 2) Foreign private sector is still buying treasuries. 3) Foreign buying is not keeping up with issuance, so more is domestically-funded. https://t.co/XH4yVhxd2c
@Crypto_Fry @gigahodler Which historian had gender dysphoria? I’m not aware of that one. Mayans were around for a few thousand years. Spaniards grew, gave us great tech but also some of the worst cases of torture in history, and eventually faded after some centuries. Interesting snapshot of history.
The protagonist that fled both the Mayans and Europeans into the deep forest likely lived out his life with his family. -The Mayans and Aztecs were nuts. -The Spaniards (mid-Inquisition) who arrived were also nuts, and had Smallpox too.

We have above-target inflation, slow job growth, and record-low consumer sentiment. https://t.co/leXXCJileq
@scott2225983729 @ianbremmer Low Congress compensation means only ideologues, inside-traders, and reputation-maxxers get the job. Banning inside-traders leaves the rest. Sufficient compensation in line with private sector executive and board-level norms, combined with strict trading/investing limits, means it's that proper governance is viable path for professionals to seek and optimize for. And only ones that are willing to give up a certain amount of personal financial autonomy as they seek to do their public jobs well.
These days, the dollar is supported less by the US Navy, and more by all the crossborder dollar-denominated debt outstanding. But the real punchline is that it's also the source of the US structural trade deficits and industrial stagnation.
Every once in a while, the BOJ puts the fear of god into over-eager yen bears by reminding them that it has a metric gigaton of reserve firepower. https://t.co/eIUqeJsch7
Didn't even hear about it. A movie not even earning 1% of its budget back is so hard to do that it almost has to be on purpose.
Bessent’s resting face while interviewers ask their questions is certainly one to study. Makes me feel like I got to up my resting face game to whatever level this is. https://t.co/P5zJ8bM3dC
Nothing stops this train.
This is partially a symptom of fiscal dominance. Rate hikes pushed up federal interest expense rather than corporate interest expense.
Should’ve let them merge. Neither of them is one of the big four U.S. airlines anyway.
Interesting that Japan has more strategic petroleum reserves than all of Europe. https://t.co/HwIXi4qMWB Seems like it's always Europe that gets caught offsides on anything energy-related.
@Rainmaker1973 Khufu: “It’s like… a giant guy doing yoga in the sky, you know?” Nefertiti: “Man, you trippin.”
In the Stormlight Archives, there is a character (a king) who magically wakes up each day with a random intelligence level. His caretakers test him in the morning to determine whether he’s capable of leading his country that day or is basically just given crayons.
